At the market price, the entry point equals 67× times the year-five maintenance flow, against a 20-to-30-times exit band for this class of business. For the return to be nil, that flow would have to be capitalized at approximately 70 times, more than double the ceiling of the band. Not even the favorable scenario, with a return of -18%, reaches today's price: the conclusion does not depend on the severity of the adverse scenario.

What to watch

The variable that decides the thesis is the trajectory of stock-based compensation against revenue. Over the last twelve months it was 32.2% of revenue, against 40.8% two fiscal years earlier: the compression has already begun and the base case extends it to 16.7% in year five. If those dollars were to grow again at the pace of revenue, the business would not generate a surplus within the visible horizon. The second indicator is net revenue retention, which is 126% as of April 30, 2026 after having fallen to 125% at the close of fiscal 2026: it is the direct measure of whether the switching cost holds up against the adoption of open formats.
